You have the ability to overcome any obstacle that may be hindering you from succeeding and one of those obstacles is procrastination.
I will be showing top strategies on how to overcome procrastination.
These are strategies I’ve been able to use to overcome procrastination even though it’s still something I struggle with once in a while.
1. Have no regrets
It’s normal for you to feel regret when you know you’ve been procrastinating because you would have missed some opportunities but you shouldn’t let that hold you back.
You need to free your mind and not focus on the past instead you should focus on the present and the future.
2. Write your plans out
Most people just want start their day without having a plan. When you do that regularly you tend not to get any result.
Writing out your plans will really be of help to you because it will enable you focus on the things you ought to do.
I advise that you try as much as you can to do a daily plan even though sometimes you might not be able to do it.
3. Take action now
When you do something regularly, you will better and perfect over time when you continue doing it.
You might think that you need to be perfect at your activity before you do it but the best thing is that you should act when you ought to and over time you will get perfect at it.
Take actions you need to take now whether you think you are perfect at it or not. Don’t wait till you are perfect before taking actions.
4. Reward yourself when you complete tasks
When you work hard, you should also play hard.
A lot times you don’t celebrate yourself and this makes feel overburdened and reluctant to take a actions.
You should reward yourself when you complete some important tasks. I’m not saying you should reward yourself for all tasks but you should know those important once that gave you a tough time. When you do this you will get motivated to do bigger tasks next time.
5. Take a nap when needed
You might have the ideology that you don’t need to take nap for you to be successful at what you do but when you don’t take a nap your productivity decreases over time because your energy to work will reduce.
You take a nap when you’ve worked for a while and you are feeling tired. When you do this you will be able to start the next task and complete it easily.
You should also make sure you get enough rest at night so that you can be energized to work.
6. Be accountable to someone
Accountability means that you are giving report of your activities to someone or to yourself. This is actually good because it helps you keep track of your daily activities.
It feels good to start your day, do what you want to do and go to bed to sleep at night but when you live like this.
Learn to give a report about your daily activity and it is even better when you are reporting to some else because it keeps you on your toes and makes you want to do more.
7. Stop daydreaming
A daydream is a fantasy you have while you’re awake. Daydreaming can be absorbing and distract you from what’s going on around you.
It is actually a sweet feeling to daydream but it is not a profitable activity. A lot of people daydream thereby procrastinating activities which ought to do in the present time.
Don’t engage in any form of day dreaming instead you should work towards achieving your goals.
Conclusion
There might still be times whereby you will procrastinate but do not make it a habit.
When it becomes a habit it will have negative effect on you because you might not be able to achieve your goals.
