The definition above about prosperity is according to dictionary.com
I know a lot of people will agree with that definition. Yes, that definition is correct but today I want us to look at how the bible defines prosperity.
If had asked me some years back what prosperity meant, I would have told you it means money, fame, power and wealth.
But now my idea of prosperity is different because I have seen some things in the world that have given me a new orientation.
I wonder why some very rich people commit suicide.
I wonder why famous people get frustrated sometimes.
This is why I feel there is more to prosperity than wealth, fame and power.
Let us look at what the bible says about prosperity
Prosperity meaning (Bible View)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
According to the bible passage above God wants us to prosper.
Do you think the passage is referring to riches alone? No, it is not referring to riches alone.
The passage is referring to the will of God for each person’s life.
When we do the will of God for our lives, we will be prosperous.
An example in the bible is Solomon when God asked him for what he wanted.
He told God he needed the wisdom to lead God’s people (that is he needed the wisdom to do the will of God)
With that wisdom came riches and fame. That is what we call through prosperity, doing the will of God for your life.
As you do the will of God, other benefits will be added to your life.
When we do the will of God, He will enable us to succeed in every area of our life. (Spiritually, Physically, mentally, financially, in relationship, career and business)
KJV: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
This is the type of prosperity God wants for us and not a one-sided prosperity that leads to sorrow.
If you desire to experience true prosperity in life, then you should start by discovering the will of God for your life and start doing the will of God.
When you start doing the will of God, you will start experiencing success in every area of life.
