Some years ago, I hit a place in life that felt… empty.I had plans that didn’t work out.
Dreams I was excited about suddenly went quiet.And to be honest with you, I felt stuck—drained emotionally and spiritually.
I would wake up, stare at the ceiling, and ask myself, “Is this all there is? Will anything ever change?”Looking back now, I know what that season was: a valley of dry bones.
A Lesson from the Valley – Ezekiel 37
Today, I read Ezekiel 37 again, and it hit differently.In that scripture, God brings the prophet Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones—lifeless, scattered remains of what used to be people. It looked hopeless.
And then God asks him:
“Son of man, can these bones live?” (Ezekiel 37:3)Imagine that moment.
Can something so dry, so gone, so dead… live again?
Speak Life, Even When It Feels Pointless
God didn’t tell Ezekiel to complain. He didn’t ask him to cry.
He told him to prophesy.
“Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!’” – Ezekiel 37:4
And when Ezekiel obeyed, the bones began to move. They came together. Flesh grew on them. And when he prophesied again—they came to life.
This taught me something powerful:
Your words carry weight.
- If you keep saying, “Nothing good happens for me,” your heart begins to believe it.
- But when you speak life—when you say “I will rise again,” “God is making a way,” “This is not my end”—something begins to shift.
You May Feel Broken, But You’re Not Hopeless
If you’re reading this right now and you feel tired, alone, or lost…
I want to tell you something from my heart:Dry bones can live again.
No matter how scattered your life feels…No matter how deep the pain…God can breathe life into it.
I’ve been there.
And somehow—miraculously—God pulled me out.And if He did it for me, He can do it for you too.
What to Do When Life Feels Like a Valley
Here are a few things I’ve learned to do when I’m in a dark place:
1. Read the Word Again
God speaks through His Word. Ezekiel 37 reminds us that there’s nothing too hard for Him. Just open your Bible. Let the truth soak in.
Start with:
- Ezekiel 37
- Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the brokenheartelld…”
- Jeremiah 32:27 – “I am the Lord… Is anything too hard for me?”
2. Pray Even If It’s Just a Whisper
You don’t have to have perfect words. Just talk to Him. Even if it’s, “Lord, I feel broken. Help me.” He hears you.
3. Speak Life Over Your Situation
Say things like:
- “I will rise again.”
- “This is not my end.”
- “I am not forgotten.”
- “My dry bones will live again.”
Your words are powerful.
God Specializes in the Impossible
Sometimes, we give up too soon because we think it’s too late.
But the God we serve? He specializes in late cases.He steps into dead places and brings resurrection.
You are not too broken.
Your story is not over.
Your valley will not be your final address.
Just like Ezekiel’s vision, life can come back.
Joy can return.
Purpose can rise again.
Final Words: Your Valley Is Temporary
This post is for someone out there who feels like quitting.
Who feels like nothing will ever change.
I want you to know:
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
There is hope.
And there is a God who still breathes life into dead things.
You don’t have to figure it all out today.
Just take one step: open your Bible. Say a prayer. Speak life.
Dry bones can live again.
