The 5 Simple Steps To Effective Prayer

Spread the love

Prayer means communication with God and can tell you that it is easy to communicate with God but you need to say the right things.

If you have a friend and all the things you tell your friend is offensive to him, I can assure you that you won’t remain friends for long but if the things you communicate with your friend are what he is interested in, I can assure you you you you you that you will get the best out of your friend. Your friend will be willing to do anything for you.

In this post, I will be showing you 5 simple steps to communicate rightly with God so that you can get answers to your prayers. When you get answers to your prayer then your prayer is effective.

Start by Thanking God

According to the Lord’s model prayer (Matthew 11:1-4) we are meant to start our prayer by worshipping God.

 “Our Father in Heaven,

 Hallowed be Your name.”

If you want your prayers to be effective, you need to start by Thanking God.

You should not start your prayers by demanding from God. God has blessed us already, so we need to thank God to show gratitude.

If you don’t remember anything to thank God for, you should thank God that you are alive because a living dog is better than a dead lion.

Thanking God should be something you do regularly irrespective of the situation you are faced with.

Pray according to the word of God

One thing that will never fail is the word of God. Every other thing can fail but the word of God cannot fail.

God always attend to His word. So one of the best ways to pray is by telling God what His word says.

According to James 4 : 3, the Bible says one of the reasons God does not answer our prayers is because we ask amiss. That means it is possible to pray and ask for the wrong things. It is also possible to pray< God hears you but He does not answer you because you ask amiss.

To avoid a situation like this, let the inspiration of your prayer come from the word of God in the Bible. God will always attend to His word.

 Pray for others

“James 5:16. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

It is good you pray for others even when you don’t feel like praying for them.

You need to pray for your family, friends and enemies.

Well, you might be wondering why you need to pray for your enemies, you can pray to God to help them change and be a better person

When you pray such prayer for them, they will stop troubling you.

We are a royal priesthood, which means we have the blood of a priest in us and one of the duties of a priest is praying for other people

So you should pray for other people because that is what God wants.

We also need to pray for our leaders and those in authority so that they don’t make wrong decisions that can affect us

 Pray till you have joy

The Bible says we should pray till our joy is full. That means you should pray until you are satisfied.

“John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full

You should not just pray because someone asked you to pray or because you see it as part of your routine.

You should pray to pour out your heart to God until you have peace and conviction that He has answered you.

When you are praying next time, pray with all your mind and the whole of yourself. Forget about all your problems and worries instead, you should put all your focus on God because He is the one that can solve all your problems.

“Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

 Pray regularly

The Bible says we should pray without ceasing. This means we need to always carry God in our hearts wherever we go or find ourselves.

“1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Praying without ceasing does not mean that we should pray throughout the day without doing any other thigh.

Praying without ceasing simply means praying to God about everything in every area of your life. God wants to know about everything we are going through.

In conclusion, these are the 5 simple steps to effective prayer:

•            Start by thanking God.

•            Pray according to the word of God.

Don’t forget to also end your prayer with In Jesus’ Name.
