Spread the love

Have you ever been in a fix whereby you need to learn a new skill to get another job or to get your work done?

This happens to a lot of people, it gets to appoint in your life and you will realise that you need to learn a new skill to climb up the ladder.

In this post, I will be discussing some reasons why people don’t learn new skills and the solution to learning new skills.

Reasons why people don’t learn skills

Time

Learning a new skill takes time and that is one of the challenges most people face.

They have time for every other thing, but they don’t have time to learn something new.

When you don’t take time to learn you are like someone who is using an axe without sharpening it. The axe will get blunt over time and become less effective as you continue using it.

The same thing happens to us, we become less effective when we don’t learn new skills.

Age factor

Don’t let your age limit you when you want to learn a new skill. Do not feel you are too young or old to learn.

If you do proper research, you will see that there are people younger and older who are learning that same skill you want to learn. So there’s no excuse for your age, you can learn a new skill.

Don’t make flimsy excuses for yourself because you will be limiting yourself by doing so.

Laziness

This is the category that most people fall into. They do not have the zeal to learn a new skill. They just want to enjoy a good life without making sacrifices.

The good thing is that you can always overcome laziness once to make up your mind on what to do and stay disciplined.

Whenever your body is encouraged to become lazy, you should think of the benefits you will lose based on your laziness and think of the benefits you will gain when you take action.

The benefits of learning a new skill might not be seen now but you will benefit from it in the future.

Lack of focus

Don’t try to learn several skills at the same time as you may end up not learning any of them properly at the end of the day.

This is one of the reasons why you need a mentor. You need someone that can monitor you to make sure you are staying on track.

It is very easy to get distracted when learning a new skill, you will see other skills that will also become attractive to you.

The best thing you can do is to focus on learning a skill and move to learning another only when you are done learning one.

Lack of Money

Lack of money seems like a genuine reason that can hinder you from learning a new skill but I believe if you know it is very important to you then you will go to the extent of borrowing money to learn.

I know people who can go to the extent of borrowing money to eat. If you think that is cool why should you feel that borrowing money to learn a new skill is bad?

I encourage you to make sacrifices to learn new skills because it pays off in the end.

Don’t use all your money to eat and have pleasure. If you do so, the implication is that you are eating your future now.

Conclusion

Learning is part of life and we all need to learn and develop new skills continuously to make us relevant in today’s world.

You need to know what you want to achieve in life and the skills that can help you achieve those goals.

Learning a new skill will make your journey to the top faster.

Learning a new skill is a process of renewing your strength for bigger challenges to come in the future.

Don’t let any of the reasons above limit you from learning a new skill.

Go ahead to learn that skill and you will see yourself at the top of the ladder.
