First bank of Nigeria like the name implies is the first bank that was founded Nigeria and they have been consistent over the years. Many banks have come and gone after it was founded and it is still operating at an optimum level.
First bank was founded in 1894. The bank was established by Sir Alfred Jones, a shipping head from Liverpool England.
The bank has its head office in Marina, Lagos Island and has over 700 branches across Africa. The bank has subsidiaries in countries like Ghana, Congo, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra-Leone and Senegal.
For eight consecutive years the bank has received the Best Retail Bank in Nigeria from year 2011-2018 by The Asian Banker.
First bank was also the first bank to pioneer bio-metric ATM and cash deposit ATM in Nigeria.
I have been to fist bank a couple of times to perform transactions and the truth is I must say that I am impressed.
The impression I had before going there was that they were going to be slow and won’t be able to compete with these new banks.
What I like about the bank is that even though they are old, they are still very competitive and even one of the best banks we have in Nigeria. They are even better than some of this new generation banks.
When I went there, the transaction was fast and the banking hall was looking good. I have also used their ATMs and it has always delivered.
